And just like that all of the lazy days of summer have come to a halt and school is officially back in session. It’s a hard transition for both parents and kids alike as the routine grows more rigorous and schedules completely change. No one enjoys waking up earlier to battle heavier traffic or rushing around before bed time during evenings to get dinner in young stomachs and homework completed. It seems that while the first day holds a bit of excitement, it tends to go downhill from there. That’s why we’ve put together three simple ideas to put the fun in back to school.
Celebrate the First Week
That first week can have it challenges for your kids whether it be with making new friends or adjusting to a new teacher and schedule. A great way to keep them encouraged during their transition back is by having a celebration at the end of that first week or month. Do what fits your children best but this can look like going to their favorite dinner spot that packs in the fun such as Dave and Buster’s or getting a local bakery to create a cake to surprise them when they arrive home. No matter how you choose to do it, showing them you are proud of their efforts in their first week is sure to make a big impact.
Relax in Style
Have a lazy day that still feels fun so both you and the kids can recoup. Whether you decide to rent a bunch of RedBox movies, binge on Netflix or take a trip to the movie theater, a day full of easy entertainment is always a win! Grab the popcorn, some movie sized candy boxes and let your mind run wild while your body kicks back and relaxes. Or, if you have daughters, taking them for a day or manicures and pedicures is sure to provide relief to the feet that have been wandering the halls all week. No matter what you decide, a day to just let go is sure to prepare them for the new week ahead.
Keep Up the Summer Fun
Just because school is back doesn’t mean the summer fun has to end. Saturdays are perfect for resurrecting summer fun before the weather changes and we all know that will be longer for us than most in the Texas weather. Buy a huge pool float since they are now discounted and take the kids to a community pool to try it out or enjoy a family trip to one of Texas’ favorite waterparks, Schlitterbahn.
In fact, Oasis Services, LLC is giving you a chance to win tickets to Schlitterbahn! And that’s not all, you can also win a patio misting kit for the back yard and a year of maintenance of your AC and heating unit all in an effort to Make Your Home an Oasis. Entering is easy!
