I hope this week has been good to you. This week my small group talked about prayer. How do you do in your prayer life? Do you have dedicated time you set aside? Do you find yourself overflowing with prayer? Do you feel it is one sided or are you good at listening too?
A few years ago my husband and I did a half day of prayer. We set aside half a day and dedicated it to prayer. We had some scripture we read through, some structured time of sharing and a book for wandering thoughts. This was one of my big takeaways for prayer time. It is so easy to have a full mind and when your mind is full it can be really hard to focus on listening. When you find many thoughts invading your mind, like the grocery list, the dishes that need to be done, grandma’s birthday party coming up, just write them on your wandering thoughts list. This gives you permission to have the thought but allows it to leave your head.
