The older I get the more I realize how amazing and powerful this verse is:
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. – Matthew 6:33
I’ve been going through a season of stress, demand, failure, transition, recuperation, disappointments … the list goes on. And I’ll be honest I have not weathered this storm as well as others.
So the other day when I was at my lowest I asked a friend of mine who happens to be a pastor to pray over me. She did … and what she heard she did not immediately want to share so she asked God again and said, “Really Lord this is what you want me to share with her?” And she felt a confirmation that it was.
She said that God wants me to RELAX. Now to a lot of people that would be a blanket statement and could apply to anything, but to me in that moment I knew that God knew my heart and it resonated deeply.
See, I’ve been spinning around trying to make others happy, myself included and I forgot in the business of life and the “woe is me” state of mind that I need to let go and let God … seek him first above all else. He has this. When she shared that with me I also released a huge exhale. I’m holding on too tight and I have forgotten that God will bring me through any storm, disappointment, loss, transition and heartache.
So as I sit here sharing with you how I’m supposed to weather this storm I’m reminded of Him and the good He has for me and you each day.
