We are so excited to honor our new difference maker, Peggy Gerke to kick off the month of September. Peggy gives so much and asks for so little. Her heart is service centered. Here’s a little about her:
For over 16 years, Peggy has independently run her non-profit and organized monthly trips down to the Colonias in Mexico. There she brings food, clothing, tarps and bungee cords (for their houses), shoes, toiletry items and other basic necessities to hundreds of families. She also serves several orphanages for abandoned/abused girls.
Peggy works locally just to earn enough money to pay for her own personal needs (rent, gas, food, etc.) but the rest of her time, energy and money goes to helping the poorest of the poor in Mexico. She works tirelessly for them by securing donations of material items, volunteering to help organize the donations, contacting businesses for partnerships, and soliciting for monetary donations to pay for the needed items that must be purchased in Mexico.
Peggy is a true example of what being the hands and feet of Jesus looks like. Her focus is set on the things above. We are so grateful for people like Peggy who give their hearts to help others. Help us congratulate her in the comments below.
