San Marcos police are investigating why a 4-year-old boy drowned in pool Saturday.
Investigators say two women brought their children with them while they were cleaning an apartment complex in San Marcos. The kids who were between 4 and 18 played in the complex’s pool. One of the children noticedixon Ramirez Valez, 4, was along the edge of the pool and seemed to be sleeping. The 18-year-old pulled Valez out of the pool and performed CPR with the help of a staff member. Paramedics took Valez to Central Texas Medical Center in San Marcos where he was pronounced dead.
Firefighters evacuated the J. J. Pickle Federal Building at 8th and San Jacinto streets in Downtown Austin Monday due to a fire in the underground electrical vault, according to the Austin Fire Department.
