Simone Biles is said to be one of the best gymnasts to ever compete in the Olympics. Her story is just as captivating as any performance she’s given. At 19-years-old, she is already the most decorated gold medalist in world championship gymnastics history. In fact she even has a signature move called “The Biles.”
You may have caught wind of her adoption from the recent headlines circulating around social media. Biles was born in Columbus, Ohio in 1997. Her mother was a drug addict who wasn’t able to care for Simone and her three other siblings. Her father wasn’t present in their lives. Simone was shuffled back and forth through foster care until she reached six years of age when her grandparents adopted Simone and one of her sisters. That’s when Simone officially became a Texan and began calling her grandparents by their new names, mom and dad. There her parents raised her to follow Christ. Simone is known to attend Mass regularly when she’s not competing.
Ron and Nellie introduced Simone to the world of gymnastics where trainer, Aimee Boorman, took her under her wing. The rest, as they say, is history. Team USA grabbed the gold in Rio this week. Simone giving a killer performance on floor, balance beam and vault.
