Debbie Wasserman-Schultz is resigning as Chair of the Democratic National Committee. This comes after the release of thousands of emails showing DNC staff members favoring Hillary Clinton over Bernie Sanders. This comes right before the Democratic Convention, where the party is hoping to show itself as unified.
Investigators today continue to look in to a suicide bombing that left the attacker dead and at least 10 hurt in Ansbach, Germany. The attacker, a 27-year-old Syrian who was denied asylum, detonated the device at a wine bar after he was denied access to a music festival. It is unclear whether the attacker had any link to radical Islam or what his motives were. The attack follows a deadly week in Germany: nine people died in a shooting rampage in Munich.
Three adults, one child killed in Bastrop shooting and one child was transported to a local hospital with non-life injuries after a shooting at an apartment complex Saturday. The shooter was among the people that didn’t make it and investigators did not believe there was a continuing threat to the public Saturday night. An investigation is still going on as to why this happened.
A Travis County Sheriff’s Deputy has been shot in his home in the Cimmaron neighborhood in Round Rock. Police are asking people in the area to stay in their homes while they look for suspects. The deputy is in critical condition.
