The rain keeps on coming, keeping the flood risks extended. This morning’s storm has brought new road closings and flash flood warnings. Here’s a list of updates on how to stay safe during this unpredictable weather.
A flash flood watch remains in effect until Friday morning. Lake Travis is the fullest it has been since the summer floods of 2007.
The Pedernales River is above flood stage in Johnson City. As a result, A FLOOD WARNING has been issued for Blanco County. Many in that area have been asked to evacuate. Floodgate operations are underway at Buchanan, Wirtz, Starcke, Mansfield and Tom Miller dams. Water also is flowing over the designated spillway at Inks Dam, which has no floodgates. Lady Bird Lake, Lake Austin, and sections of Lakes LBJ & Marble Falls are closed for recreation due to dangerously high water flows. Austin Parks and Recreation have closed the Barton Creek Greenbelt until further notice.
This list of closed low water crossings is quite large. Please review at KXAN before heading anywhere for your safety.
