France confirms that EgyptAir flight crashed over Mediterranean Sea- an EgyptAir flight from Paris to Cairo carrying 66 passengers. It is too early to determine the cause of the accident. The plane, disappeared from radar and likely went down near the Greek island of Crete. Search and rescue operation. No wreckage has been located.
The Maine Mineral and Gem Museum is offering a reward of up to $20,000 for anyone who finds a piece of the meteor that exploded over the state earlier this week. People across the country are still talking about the fireball that lit up the sky very early Tuesday morning. Researchers there are hoping for the chance to look at any fragments from the meteorite, hoping to learn more about the solar system.
Lakeway Regional Medical Center is hosting a ‘Snakebite 101’ seminar on tonight. Snakebites are on the rise in Central Texas. Emergency room doctors said recent rain and construction in the city is pushing the snakes out of their natural habitats and into residences.
The Austin Police Department said Wednesday they are investigating a total of 71 rock throwing cases on Interstate 35 in Austin. Wednesday’s total is up from the 62 cases police said they were investigating on Monday. The number was changed after the department determined additional reports qualified as legitimate rock throwing incidents. The most recent rock throwing took place Sunday, on I-35 northbound near Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard. The first confirmed case was on June 1, 2014.
After nearly four years of being under Stage 2 water restrictions, Austin is officially moving out of Stage 2 water restrictions and into Conservation Stage. The city of Austin says they are able to make these changes because the lakes in our area have recovered from the drought.
