A truck crashed with a train around 9pm last night. Round Rock Police say the accident happened at Redbud Lane and Highway 79. A teenage boy was trying to beat the train–he was taken to Seton Wilco hospital and he is going to be okay. Redbud Lane will remain closed due to possible track damage.

The country has one of the world’s highest incidences of shark attacks.

Families were evacuated from several homes in Burnett County because of a brush fire. The fire was on FM 963 about six miles east of State Highway 281 yesterday afternoon. The fire was about 45% contained as of last night but high winds were making things difficult for firefighters.
Parents worried about their kids’ safety are calling for a traffic light to be put in on Westinghouse Rd in front of Carver Elementary School in Georgetown. The kids are having to cross four lanes of traffic on a hill to get to the school. The district has begun to offer bus service to kids who live within a block of the school.
