Colorado theater shooter to be formally sentenced to life in prison –Judge Carlos Samour Jr. is expected to formally sentence James Holmes to life in prison today for murdering 12 people at a crowded suburban Denver movie theater on July 20, 2012. A jury earlier this month was unable to unanimously agree on the death penalty for Holmes. For the past two days, dozens of survivors of the attack and victims’ family members have shared the pain and suffering caused by Holmes’ rampage as he sat in court and listened.
Could those TSA body scanners at the airport be a thing of the past? Congressman Michael McCaul says it could happen in the next decade. ‘Walking through a corridor without these machines but rather sensor technology where you can just walk through a hallway and not have to take off anything.’
Round Rock ISD is starting the school year 40 teachers short. On top of that, Cedar Ridge High School has about 200 more students than expected. Substitute teachers are filling in until they can hire permanent teachers.
There is going to be a new green space on Rainey Street downtown. The park will be next to the Mexican American Cultural Center.
