The boat was carrying 458 people when it capsized on Monday night—438 remain missing. Emergency responders pulled six passengers to safety after hearing banging and cries for help from within the capsized boat. The ship is upside down in about 50 feet of water with part of its hull visible. At least nine others were saved, including the captain and the chief engineer, and the Chinese President has ordered an’all-out rescue efforts.’

Flooding, rain and rising lake levels haven’t impacted watering restrictions for Austin so far, and the city’s water department cautions we’re about to enter the hottest time of the year. Despite all the rain in Hays County, San Marcos also has watering restrictions. The city’s Stage One level means residents can only water one day a week. There are a handful of cities in Central Texas including Georgetown, Brush Creek MUD and Round Rock that have removed all restrictions because Lake Georgetown and Stillhouse Hollow are over capacity.
A very scary incident for two Austin Police officers. One of them went up to a guy who got into his car and then apparently caused an explosion. The officer, who was right at the window was blown backwards. The guy got out of the car then got back in while it was on fire. Then got out again, screaming. Officers were able to drag him away. They believe he was trying to commit suicide. The suspect was taken to University Medical Center Brackenridge in serious condition. The officer had minor injuries to his arm. There is video of this on the internet – it’s very graphic and definitely not for kids.
