Businesses affected by the Shoal Creek flood in downtown Austin are cleaning up. Travis County has declared the area a disaster which will allow businesses to apply for federal aid. Employees at Whole Earth on Lamar Boulevard are squeezing mud out of carpets before they are replaced.
The Ace Hardware in Wimberley has become a central location for volunteers helping with the cleanup effort. A few years ago that same store burned to the ground – and the community rallied around it.
A person was removed from a flight bound for Austin. Some of the other passengers had expressed concerns about their behavior and he was taken off the Virgin America flight before they left San Francisco. The plane landed safely in Austin about an hour late. They are not sharing any details about the person right now.
There has been a case of Viral Meningitis at Negley Elementary school in Hays County.
