The Big Chief notebook. If you grew up in Texas it was on the list. It had it’s own scent. All those fresh crisp pages and the endless possibilities of the words and pictures that would fill it up to the last page by the end of the school year.
You don’t see that on the school supply list anymore. Now it’s more like: earbuds, stylus, dry erase markers and ziplock bags.
The supply list may have changed, but the newness of starting a school year still FEELS the same. Will the teacher be nice? Will there be new kids? Will the kids that were mean last year still be mean?
And for some students, the questions will be deeper: Will my parents be pleased with me? Will I pass? Will I fit in?
Starting our kids off with a solid foundation will help them to be successful in their new school year and in life after the classroom. Hopefully their foundation includes a full backpack, a full lunchbox and the security that God has a plan for them!
