From leather jackets to surfboards, every year more than one million lost or unclaimed airline passenger items are taken to the Unclaimed Baggage Center.
The Alabama store sorts, cleans and refurbishes the lost property and donates one-third to local and national charities.
The center is a 40,000-square-foot shopping warehouse that reportedly receives one million visitors a year.
So when you’re heading out on your holiday vacation, keep in mind that by law, airlines are required to spend 90 days trying to reunite bags with their owners. More than 99 percent of the time, they’re successful.
But that less than one percent that doesn’t find its way back to its owner gets sold exclusively to the Unclaimed Baggage Center.
So if you’re still looking for that special pillow or your reading glasses from your last trip, now you know where to go
