January 11, 2011 — Austin, Texas: SPIRIT 105.9, part of the CRISTA Broadcasting ministry, has announced a new morning show program for Austin’s new live and local Christian Contemporary music station. Beginning Wednesday, January 12, “Mornings with Steve & Amy” will entertain the SPIRIT audience each weekday from 6:00 – 10:00 AM.
“After an extensive local and national talent search, we are proud to announce a new fresh Morning show for Austin,” said station General Manager Tim McCoy. “Mornings with Steve and Amy is a proven, unique morning show that will provide uplifting local news, traffic, information and music to the great people of Austin each weekday. In Steve and Amy we have two genuine people who love to talk about faith, family and life in general. They have a real knack for connecting with listeners.”
The “Mornings with Steve & Amy” team is comprised of Steve Sunshine, a 25-year radio veteran in markets including Sacramento and Indianapolis, and Amy Byrd, whose country radio background includes stints in Roanoke, Virginia and the greater Atlanta area. Together, Steve and Amy most recently spent five years as a top-rated morning show at WMHK in Columbia, South Carolina. Sunshine is also Program Director for SPIRIT 105.9, which began delivering uplifting Christian Contemporary music to Austin on September 20 of last year. “I am thrilled to be part of an organization with the heart for making a positive difference in the world like CRISTA, and to now have the opportunity to provide encouragement to one of the most dynamic cities in the country,” stated Sunshine.
SPIRIT 105.9, serving the Austin, Texas market, is one of four radio stations owned and operated by CRISTA Broadcasting, joining SPIRIT 105.3 and KCIS AM 630 of Seattle, and PRAISE 106.5 of Bellingham, Washington.
