September 16, 2010 — Austin, Texas: CRISTA Broadcasting, part of the CRISTA family of ministries, has announced that KFMK 105.9 will re-launch as SPIRIT 105.9 when its new Christian Contemporary format begins on Monday, September 20. The transition of KFMK from Aloha Trust, a holding entity of Clear Channel Communications, to CRISTA Broadcasting has received final confirmation from the Federal Communications Commission.
“We are pleased to have received FCC approval, and now we are days away from beginning a new era for CRISTA Broadcasting,” said Stan Mak, Vice President and General Manager of CRISTA Broadcasting. “SPIRIT 105.9 is here because of the overwhelming support for this format that we heard time and time again in our conversations with Austin listeners. SPIRIT 105.9 is going to provide uplifting music and message to the great people of Austin.”
A new logo (above at right) has been unveiled as the final transition of KFMK commences. SPIRIT 105.9 General Manager Tim McCoy commented, “We are excited to have developed a logo that captures the wonderful energy of our station. I think the logo is distinctly Austin, as our station will be. We have done extensive research to ensure we are programming the type of local station that ‘Austinites’ have been asking for.”
KFMK 105.9, serving the Austin, Texas market, is the fourth radio station owned and operated by CRISTA Broadcasting, joining SPIRIT 105.3 and KCIS AM 630 of Seattle, and PRAISE 106.5 of Bellingham, Washington. CRISTA Broadcasting and its six sister ministries serve the practical and spiritual needs of people nationally and globally through broadcast, schools, camps, senior living, veterinary medicine, international relief and development.
