The Brain Power 5K is a timed 5K and Fun Run/Walk with a Kids’ K on September 9th, 2012. This event gives the Central Texas community an opportunity to increase brain cancer awareness and support brain cancer research. Proceeds from the event benefit the Dr. Marnie Rose Foundation at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. The Foundation also supports pediatric initiatives at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital.
The race will take place in scenic Williamson County Regional Park, just northwest of Austin. Brain Power 5K will be run on a traffic free and UST&F certified course (TX10036ETM.) This route is flat, stroller friendly and will offer one water stop. The day will begin with a Kid’s K at 8am inside the stadium track where the 5K will start and finish and the post-race celebration will occur. There will be age group awards given out on race day and Kid’s K participants will receive a medal. After the race, join in a celebration in the park with generous sponsors offering delicious food and drinks to all. If you are a brain tumor survivor or have one in your life, invite them as they will be honored as special guests of the day. Please contact race organizers with names of survivors or those who have battled a tumor that you wish to recognize.
Registration
5K participants are $25 online and will include a race packet and t-shirt. T-shirts are guaranteed for entries received by August 18th, after that while supplies last. Fund-raise $100 by August 18th and receive a ‘dri-fit/tech’ race shirt. Online registration ends Thursday, September 6th. Entry fee increases to $30 on September 7th and to $35 on race day, September 9th (6:45am-7:45am). All Georgetown and Austin Running Club members receive a $1 discount.
Kid’s K
Registration for kids 12 and under is $12 and will cover their entry for the Kid’s K and the 5K. T-shirts are guaranteed for entries received by August 26th, after that while supplies last. Online registration ends Thursday, September 6th. Parent or guardian permission is required. Kid’s K Participants will receive a medal at the Kid’s K finish. The Kid’s K starts at 8:00am (prior to the start of the 5k).

*Age group awards will be presented following the 5K. *Incredible awards will be given to top fundraisers for their efforts in making such a life-changing impact against this horrific disease. Raffle tickets for fabulous prizes will be available at the packet-pick up locations and on race morning. Please check website for prize descriptions.
