FDA warns eating too much may have dangerous side effects–– No matter what your age, don’t eat large amounts of black licorice at one time. Limit eating black licorice to a maximum of two ounces (about three 1-inch pieces) a day —an irregular heart rhythm or arrhythmia. There is good news, however. Usually after black licorice is consumed, potassium levels go back to normal and there tend to be no lasting health effects once the person stops eating it. Black licorice can also interact negatively with some medications, herbs and dietary supplements.
New improvements may be coming to Interstate 35, including through the downtown corridor. The project is called “Capital Express” and includes reconstruction and the lowering of I-35. The project looks to add two managed express lanes in each direction for 33 miles of I-35 from Ranch to Market 1431 in Round Rock to State Highway 45 SE near Buda.
Credit card skimming has become such a rampant problem that the Travis County Sheriff’s Office is encouraging us to go inside and pay instead of paying at the pump. Apparently the crime has become so prevalent because the skimming devices are easy to get. The suspects are also using Bluetooth technology to make it even easier for them to access the stolen information quickly. One defense against that is to try connecting to Bluetooth and if you see “a long string of numbers trying to connect, there may be someone trying to skim your card.
The owner of Z’Tejas Southwestern Grill has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy after closing one restaurant in Austin and three others in Arizona. The owners said they intend to reorganize and enhance their operations in Phoenix and Austin.
