October has been a crazy month for the city of Austin with both weekends of the Austin City Limits Festival and Formula 1 following right behind. Thousands of people swarmed our city for amazing entertainment and all is just now settling back down. But one thing that never seems to settle down are the countless volunteers that make up the Austin Disaster Relief Network.
Since Hurricane Harvey hit this great state, ADRN has been working tirelessly to gather donations and ship supplies to where they are needed. Made up of over 175 churches in Greater Austin, this organization has branched out beyond its usual network to continue helping Texans recover. Their team held down the fort at ACL this year for both weekends 1 and 2, asking passersby if they would like to donate towards giving people affected by the flooding new hope. Donations were accepted on the spot. The best part, Honda teamed up with ADRN during the festival by creating an exclusive limited edition hat that benefited the organizations efforts.
Texans are continuing to pay it forward and ADRN has gone from ACL to their Love Port Arthur campaign with a second trip planned over this past weekend to assist with emotional care and the distribution of much needed items.
We are so grateful to see local organizations like this making a huge difference in the lives of so many people.
