Is it possible to teach a girl modesty without creating body shame? Creator of Secret Keeper Girl, Dannah Gresh thinks so. In fact, she’s found that grade school girls, ages eight to twelve, are now the at-risk demographic for body image issues.
“I teach modesty because the Bible does, and when it’s done correctly it promotes a strong body image in these girls, enabling them to bypass the often serious risks of body image issues.”
When it comes to talking about modesty, it isn’t so much about rules being set as it is about understanding our hearts and why we make the choices we do. In the world our girls are growing up in, it is amazing to see tours like Secret Keeper Girl where moms, daughter, aunts, nieces, grandmas and grand daughters can laugh, pray and talk about real issues your tweens are dealing with together as a family.
September 14 the tour will arrive at First Baptist Georgetown and we encourage you to go for a fun girl’s night out focusing on what true beauty is. Whether it be a more intimate mommy- daughter date or a whole group of friends, you’ll enjoy live worship, fun Biblical teaching and memorable stories where girls will walk away unmistakably knowing that they are each a masterpiece created by God.
