Republicans can’t vote on the bill until the Congressional Budget Office analyzes how many people will be affected by it and how much it will cost. Democrats say they will try to draw out the legislative process to show their opposition to the bill. Politicians on both sides of the aisle have criticized the bill for a lack of transparency.
Tropical Storm Cindy made landfall this morning in southwestern Louisiana. The storm, which has already caused flooding in Gulf Coast cities, could cause “life-threatening flash floods,” according to the National Weather Service.
The Charleston South Carolina River Dogs minor league baseball team has apologize for mocking Tim Tebow’s Christianity. Tebow plays for the rival Columbia Fireflies. Among other things, he was greeted with the Hallelujah Chorus every time he came up to bat and the River Dogs mascot wore eye black with John 3:16 on it.
Police are searching for a woman who may be in danger because of a medical condition. Marble Falls police say that Regina Lewis has been missing since Monday, she is white, 30 years old last seen in blue jeans or black pants and a pink shirt. She may have been seen on Tuesday trying to get a ride to Austin.
Reuel Cron celebrated his 100th birthday with the help of several Austin businesses. He served in the South Pacific in World War II. The whole thing was arranged by people from the retirement home where Reuel lives. Birthday greetings were posted on marquees in front of several iconic businesses. His birthday lunch was at El Arroyo, who’ sign messages have become legendary on social media. Their sign said “let the good times Reuel!”
A Texas air national guard pilot ejected from his F-16 when the plane burst into flames on takeoff at Ellington Airport in Houston. The pilot was taken to the hospital.
