The contentious French presidential election is down to two candidates and neither is from a mainstream party. Emmanuel Macron, who left the Socialist party is now considered a centrist. Marine Le Pen is a populist who is sometimes compared with Donald Trump. There have been demonstrations today, some of which have turned violent. The final election is two weeks away.
Congress is facing a deadline to keep the government running. Meanwhile President Trump is pressing them for legislative victories as his first 100 days come to a close. Congress must pass a budget by Friday or extend the deadline to prevent a government shutdown.

An estimated 21,000 people took to the streets for the 40th annual Cap10K yesterday. Runners started on the Congress Avenue Bridge, went by the Capitol, Lady Bird Lake, over several hills and though several neighborhoods, to the finish line at Vic Mathias Shores. It’s the largest 10K race in Texas.
