We have always been a fan of Hillary Scott and were thrilled to hear she would be coming for SXSW.
Walking into Moody Theater is an experience all in its own, but pair that with the vocal talents of Hillary Scott and it takes the experience to a whole new level. Scott was joined by her Lady Antebellum bandmates, Busbee and Nicolle Galyon, for an intimate CMA Songwriters Series during the SXSW Conference.
This was Scott’s debut appearance for SXSW and she did not disappoint. During the evening Scott made several references to her faith which has always been so evident in her songwriting and most recent Christian radio debut “Thy Will.”
This song was written after a heartbreaking miscarriage she went through “…it was at my most raw place that I could have ever been when this song truly poured out of me.” The lyrics to this song are inspiring and something we can all relate to at one point or another in our lives.
I’m so confused
I know I heard you loud and clear
So, I followed through
Somehow I ended up here
I don’t wanna think
I may never understand
That my broken heart is a part of your plan
When I try to pray
All I’ve got is hurt and these four words
Thy will be done
They will be done
Thy will be done
Scott’s vulnerability in this song is so evident and her stage presence is flawless. Lady Antebellum finished the night out by performing their biggest No. 1 hits, including “Need you Now” “I Run To You” as well as some new material from their new album Heart Break, available June 9.
This was an incredible evening spotlighting amazing talent and we’re so thrilled our very own Hillary Scott was a part of it.
