Hurricane Matthew officially made landfall on the western shores of Haiti early this morning with winds of 145mph. Up to 40 inches of torrential rain is expected in some areas. The hurricane is the first category 4 to hit Haiti since 1964.
The storm has already taken the lives of at least three people, caused cruise ships to detour and prompted various officials to declare states of emergency. The hurricane could cause further damage for Haiti as many are in temporary shelters after the devastating 2010 earthquake.
