It’s back to school today for children in Miami Beach, where health officials are battling a virus outbreak. Pregnant women have been advised to avoid the area north of downtown Miami. While the outbreak poses the biggest threat to pregnant women, health experts say schools should take mosquito control seriously and remove any standing water where mosquitoes can breed.
Over the last 9 days, as much as 15 inches of rain has fallen in Lakeway, 14 inches in southwest Austin.

Austin Water is repairing a lift station in south Austin after approximately 50,000 gallons of wastewater was released into a stream near Bear Creek Saturday evening. Austin water said heavy rains caused the overflow. They were able to stop the overflow, and recover 40,000 gallons.
