Today Tenth Avenue North planned to share that they had a new record coming up but the mood quickly changed when lead singer, Mike Donehey, learned about the news in Dallas. He shared some really wise words below:
‘I woke up early today, ready to tell the world our new record is coming, but then I flipped on the news and took yet a punch to the gut. This world. This madness. I thought, ‘Jesus, what can I do in the wake of such senseless hate?’
And yet, I find my footing. I remember why I wrote these songs in the first place. For times like these, for hearts like ours. All He ever asked of us was to follow. Through flood, through fire, through the ache for reconciliation. Through it all. FOLLOW.
For me, to follow God isn’t a plan, it’s a position of my heart. It’s examining my will and living a perpetual ‘yes.’ I’m done trying to follow my heart and my dreams. They’re not big enough for what I’m looking for. I want to see the kingdom come. I want to see a world made new. So, God, teach my feet to follow your heart and your dreams. May there never be a ‘no’ in me when it comes to you.
Thank you for the encouragement today, Mike.
