The Obama administration has been urging Congress to come up with nearly $2 billion dollars in emergency funding to combat the Zika virus. Yesterday, it announced that it’s transferring leftover money from the recent fight against Ebola.
This year’s Masters will be full of familiar faces fighting for that famed green jacket, including defending champion Jordan Spieth. But a lot of the talk will focus on who won’t be teeing off this morning at Augusta National. Tiger Woods withdrew from the tournament Monday because of a back injury, and Arnold Palmer announced last month he would not take the ceremonial first swing for the first time since 2007. Golf legends Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player will do the honors.
Country music legend Merle Haggard has died. He was known for songs like “Okie from Muskogee” and “Fightin’ Side of Me” and as a voice of the working man. He was 79.
Police are investigating the body of a young woman who was found on the UT campus in Waller Creek west of the Alumni Center. They are looking for a suspect and asking the UT community for patience.
