Ten Thousand Villages Austin, the nonprofit retailer of handmade,

Ten Thousand Villages will accept nominations for its International Women’s Day Awards through March 8th and will bestow the awards at an event on Friday, April 8.
The Ten Thousand Villages International Women’s Day Awards recognize local women in four categories: humanitarian, environmental, animal welfare and, for emerging women 23 years and younger. Anyone may submit a nomination by visiting the Ten Thousand Villages Austin website. Nominees are evaluated by a judges panel of notable women in the community as well as past winners. Proceeds from the awards event support Ten Thousand Villages’ fair trade
“ Each year our commitment grows stronger. The link between this special day of the year and what Ten Thousand Villages does each day is powerful yet simple. Fair trade empowers women. Through fair trade work, women are respected in their community and within their families and most of all can help provide an education for their children .” said Kitty Bird, executive director of Ten Thousand Villages Austin. “ To honor the women who do so much good through animal
advocacy, environmentalism and humanitarianism closes the link between Villages global impact and our impact here in Austin. ”
