L.A. students back in class after email threat–Mayor Eric Garcetti announced that students in the Los Angeles Unified School District would be back in class today, after an email threat led to classes being canceled for the system’s more than 640,000 students yesterday. New York City deemed a similar threat a “hoax“ and kept schools open, but Los Angeles schools Superintendent didn’t want to take any chances after the terror-related mass shooting in San Bernardino, about 60 miles east of the city.

A Southwest Airlines plane skidded off the runway last night after landing at Nashville International Airport. Three ambulances were dispatched to the airport and have treated three people for injuries. Two of those people suffered minor injuries and one person suffered from chest pains. They aren’t really sure why the plane skidded off the runway at point.
Austin police say a 6-year-old child was seriously injured after being hit by a car while she was crossing the street yesterday. was making her way across the street, several cars missed her, but one driver wasn’t able to and ran into her. Zabree Calderon’s family says the first grader is at Dell Children’s Medical Center and has a broken leg, internal bleeding, brain damage and is in a coma. Apparently, she had gotten excited when she saw her grandmother on the other side of the street and was running to her.
Austin Police are warning us to be watchful while we’re shopping this season after suspected burglars were arrested at the Arbor Walk Shops last night. They allegedly smashed several car windows. APD says they are increasing patrols at shopping centers.
