School is almost back in session, and for many, that is a big change in routine. It is typical for a change from a relaxed environment into a more structured one to be difficult at first. We thought it might be nice to do some random acts of kindness these next few days before school to ease the transition.
Help Extracurriculars Cool Down
Band members, football players, cheerleaders, dancers and more are gearing up for the upcoming football season by practicing early. Some of that practice happens to be outside in 100 degree temperatures. If you see these students practicing outside this week at your local school, stop by the grocery store and surprise them with a refreshing treat like popsicles.
Welcome the Teacher
Start off on the right foot with your student’s teacher. Bring her something fun like a teacher survival kit including office supplies, and, of course a Starbuck’s gift card! There are lots of great ideas for teacher gifts on Pinterest.
Break the Ice
Send your student to class ready to break the ice and make new friends. Have them bring a useful, inexpensive item to hand out to each classmate. There are plenty of fun ways to get creative with this.
Many teachers use these preliminary weeks to setup their classrooms for the school year. Know a teacher? Offer to help them with this task so that their classroom really sets the mood for incoming students. Coaches and directors of extracurricular activities often hold camps at this time. See if they need help during their long days with helping usher their students.
Love Your Neighbor
Chances are your neighbors are going through the same transitions in schedule that your family is. If you are able to reach out a helping hand towards them, it could make their week. Bringing by muffins for breakfast or carpooling with them, could really ease their morning commute.
It’s the small things that can really make someone’s day. Let’s all work together to kick off this school year in a great way!
