Austin city budget could include tax breaks for homeowners—Homestead exemptions are something Austin mayor Steve Adler talked about a lot when he ran for mayor. Those exemptions now look closer to becoming a reality for Austin homeowners. “We’re having an affordability crisis in this city that we need to address,” said Adler. Adler wants the tax break for Austenite’s who own and live in their home. The plan was a top discussion at last night’s city council’s budget meeting.
