If you tuned into the Grammys last night you may have seen a very compelling introduction to Katy Perry’s emotional performance raising awareness for domestic violence. You may also be surprised to learn that the woman who stole the show is from Austin, Texas.
Brooke Axtell has a horrific background of being trafficked as a young child by her nanny. What is so wonderful about this woman is her strength. Director of Communications for Allies Against Slavery, Brooke (@SurvivorHealing) was quoted multiple times on Twitter after her Grammy presentation.
‘Authentic love does not devalue a human being. Authentic love does not silence, shame or abuse.’
Our favorite part about the publicity is that human trafficking and domestic violence awareness are finally receiving national attention. We are looking forward to positive changes in the future as a result.
