Jordan executed two prisoners with links to al-Qaeda early today in response to the Islamic State’s release of a video depicting the killing of Jordanian pilot who had been captured by the militants when his plane was shot down in December. Experts say The gruesome video, will backfire and strengthen the resolve of Muslim nations fighting Islamic State extremists. Jordan had previously offered to release one of the prisoners, an Iraqi woman, in exchange for al-Kaseasbeh’s freedom.
Around twenty people were missing Wednesday after a TransAsia Airways flight clipped its wing on a bridge shortly after takeoff from the Taiwanese capital Taipei and then crashed into a nearby river, taking the lives of at least 23. They are still looking for survivors.

Travis County’s SWAT team is negotiating with a man holed up inside a home on Brady Lane early this morning in West Lake Hills, on the border of Rollingwood. They have been on scene for more than five hours, after receiving multiple calls from that area. When police showed up to the home, he came outside and shot a round. That’s when SWAT teams responded. About four- to six homes in the immediate area have been evacuated, and a reverse—Police Officials strongly advise neighbors to stay inside — saying not to step out even to go to work — until they hear from police saying it’s OK to leave.
