Texas lawmakers are pushing to end human trafficking. Believe it or not, Texas is the second largest state for trafficking. Central Texas sees problems when big events come to town such as SXSW and Formula 1.
The House of Representatives unanimously passed Congressman Michael McCaul’s Human Trafficking Detection Act this week. This requires the Department of Homeland Security to provide a human trafficking awareness training program for government agencies such as Border Protection and TSA.
Although this is a great accomplishment, there is still much work to be done. With the big game Sunday, comes the threat of trafficking at the event.
You can help join the fight this Sunday morning at Traffic Jam. This event includes fun fitness classes set to live DJ music, a photo booth, food & a great silent auction! All fitness levels are welcome and proceeds from Traffic Jam 2015 will benefit The Key2Free, a central Texas based organization that works to bring awareness, rescue and restore victims of human sex trafficking.
