About to hit the road for your summer vacation? Here are a few safety tips for you to consider before leaving.
1.) Make sure your luggage is out of sight and don’t store valuables or take anything with you that is not replaceable.
2.) When you are out of your vehicle, try not to look vulnerable or lost. Be sure to walk like you have a purpose and pay close attention to what is going on around you. Criminals are always looking for easy targets to snatch purses or ‘pickpocket’ from.
3.) Never discuss your travel plans, room number, or personal information in public or with strangers. By public, that also (especially) means don’t put your plans out on social media sites such as Twitter or Facebook. You may trust everybody on your friends list, but you never know who else might see it and use it to their advantage to start their Christmas shopping early at your house while you’re away from home.
4.) Refrain from flashing your driver’s license or passport in public, because you never know whose wandering eyes might see it. Large amounts of cash are not advisable either, for the same reason.
5.) Keep a an emergency kit in your vehicle. The kit should include a first aid kit, jumper cables, a flashlight, and bottled water. Depending on the area you are visiting you might also want to include articles such as sunscreen, blankets, or bug repellant.
Enjoy your Summer Vacation! Stay Safe!
