The 100 Club of Central Texas is accepting donations for the family of Austin police officer Jaime Padron.
Allan Moritz, the group’s executive director, said it plans to make a $10,000 donation to the family, ‘as we do whenever a first responder dies.’
‘We step in within the first 48 hours. It helps them get through these times until the (death) benefits kick in,’ Moritz said.
Founded in 1983 by his father James Moritz and Ed Stivers, the nonprofit was created to aid first responders — including peace officers, firefighters and emergency services personnel — and their families, especially the families of first responders who are killed or critically injured in the line of duty.
